Set in 1.5 acres of beautiful gardens in Bruton, Somerset, Random Thatch is a unique 17th century rustic haven, home to design duo Jim Stanton & Jo GB.
This style space showcases The Random Studio: modern rustic decor, featuring art, photography, and sculpture using sustainable living materials derived from foliage, wood, and botanicals.
In the spring of 2020, Random Thatch was the last house Jim & Jo viewed before the world shutdown. They obsessed … until they bought her. Run down and in need of much love and attention, they moved in, camped out, and began their journey to bring this darling house that had been lonely and neglected, back to being a family home once more.
Both trained artists, inspired by nature, they soon found the wild garden and rural surroundings at Random Thatch their greatest source of creative inspiration. Wood, botanicals, twine, sculpture, painting, illustration, inks, clay. Here, the art of nature is all intertwined.
“Home is the ultimate comfort, especially in times of stress.” says Jo. “Nature on every level indicates how beautiful and restorative life can be. Every element of The Random Studio is “how to create peace and harmony in your home”.
